It’s Autumn again, the leaves are changing colour, conkers are falling from the tree and bopping people on the head (true story), the heating is on, pink/coral lipsticks have been put back in the cupboard for another year and the festive season is within reach.
I do love Autumn, I love the colours, the darker makeup, snuggling up on the sofa with a blanket and of course the excuse to go out and buy new clothes and footwear.
I’ve spotted so many gorgeous items in store and online recently and it’s been really difficult to curb the spending so I’ve decided to only buy a few pieces that will either work with what I have in my wardrobe already or things that can be worn yearly and won’t go out of style.
First up is the Hepburn Un-Invited guests dress from Lady Vintage, now £50.00 may sound a lot for a Halloween dress but I figured that this is something that could be brought out each year.
How amazing is this Beauty school jumper! Grease was one of my favourite films as a child and this jumper has brought so many great memories. Joanie currently has this jumper and at £38 it’s a steal especially as it’s so versatile and can be worn with skirts or trousers.
Tweed is one of my all time favourite fabrics so it’s only natural that I’ll be purchasing a new bag as an alternative to my Harris Tweed and Barbour bags a bit of a break. Joules has this Everday bag for £69.95 and I think it will be just about big enough to fit all of my things.
I love a boyfriend tee and it’s even better when it’s from AllSaints, I did take a break from the brand for a couple of years as it was eating too much into my purse but I’ve slowly been building up my collection again and this particular tee reminds me of one I had around 8 years ago (I’m sure it was the same price too) The Nightwolvs boyfriend crew is £45.
I would imagine that the Marks and Spencer pointed court shoes are in a lot of shopping bags this season, I couldn’t get the Ink coloured ones in my size so had to make do with the Black. At £35 they are a fraction of the price of the Manolo Blahnik shoes that Carrie Bradshaw made famous.
I love a cotton jersey dress as they are always so flattering and hide a multitude of sins. At £55 the Huers Hut dress from Seasalt is such a bargain I’ve purchased one in each of the two colours. I’d love to see this in a brown or yellow too. This style of dress looks great with coloured tights, I must get myself over to Slugs and Snails for some of their raindrop tights.
Joules always do an amazing selection of boots and the Westbourne leather chelsea boots are beautiful even though they have a price tag of £140. I’m a huge fan of a bit of animal print which make a nice change as most of my chelsea boots are either in plain black or brown.
The Bertha boat print Tee from Joanie is just adorable, who doesn’t love a nautical top? Joanie tops (and dresses) are such amazing quality for the price and you can pick this one up for £18. I’m going to stitch the arms up a little when mine arrives to change the shape of the sleeve.
I’ve got my eye on the Bonded Heritage check coat from Topshop, there are a couple of check coats that I have my eye on and this one at £65 is the cheapest of the bunch, it’s super smart and can be dressed up or down. I’ve not yet tried this on as I’m keeping my fingers crossed there is a “tall” version somewhere with a bit of extra length in the arms.
Do you own any of these items already? What’s on your Autumn wishlist?
Please note: I wasn’t asked to mention any of the brands in this post, I just love these items and hope you do too.
Autumn is probably my favourite time of the year when it comes to fashion, I adore the rich colours, fabrics and weather but maybe not the rain. I find that the colours I wear in Autumn like Red, Brown, Black, Yellow and Grey really work well together and compliment each other more than the colours worn in any other season. My Autumn wardrobe this year is looking a bit sparse as I’m in between sizes and hoping to lose some more weight so I’m a little bit reluctant to spend too much money on new clothing.
I’ve been browsing some online stores looking for inspiration, I prefer to see things in store but that’s not always easy when you always have a tornado two year old running around so my safest bet is shopping from the comfort and safety of my own home.
Not all of the stores I like to shop at have their full range in yet but I’m really impressed with what I’ve seen so far and thought I’d share some of my favourite pieces with you.
1. F&F at Tesco retro floral print tunic dress £20
2. Dorothy Perkins terracotta high neck top £15
3. George at Asda suedette skirt £14
4. Mint Velvet blanket scarf £39
5. White Stuff wooden necklace £19.95
6. Joules tweed jacket £99.95
7. New Look ankle boots £49.99
Until I purchase some new clothing I’ll be living in my staple autumn items shown below, I’m predictable I know this, my style hasn’t changed in over 10 years but it’s comfy so I’m happy with it.
1. Barbour quilted jacket £269 I alternate between this and a similar Fat Face one
2. Converse from Jones Bootmaker £45 The colour varies as I have several pairs
3. Topshop Joni Jeans £36 I’ve worn Topshop jeans for years, the tall range has the perfect length
4. Topshop T-shirt £14 like the jeans, Topshop does a great length t-shirt in the tall range
5. Linea weekend bag £119 I have this and a similar Reiss bag which Is my old faithful but is looking a bit battered now.
Do you change your wardrobe for Autumn?
Autumn is just around the corner unfortunately and it really doesn’t feel like we have had much of a summer here in Warwickshire. Soon I will be putting away my summer clothes and starting to think about what Autumn fashions I want to be wearing, I love prints especially loud prints and animal print and I have two perfect items from George at Asda that tick all of my Autumn fashion boxes.
I love the print on both of these tops, it reminds me of birds of paradise flowers which are probably one of my favourite tropical plants, the blue and orange colours work so well together that I really wanted to keep it plain for the purpose of these photographs as I didn’t want your eyes to be taken away from the pattern.
What I really like about this print and the cut of the two tops is how versatile they are, not just aimed at one particular age the tops could be easily styled by someone in their 20’s and they would look totally different on someone in their 60’s. I’m 35 and I love these tops, the jumper I would wear with jeans or dress trousers and the tunic I would wear with leggings or skinny jeans.
George have some awesome Autumn/Winter pieces due to hit store very soon. The trends seem to be focused on a lot of 70s and boho style fashion with lots of paisley prints and bold patterns, I’m looking out for the faux fur, floppy hats, brogues and tan accessories which are just perfect for my Autumn fashion wardrobe. Take a look at the video below which features the Autumn/Winter press day where you can see more of the collection, there is a beautiful pair of brogues at 0:10 that you should check out along with a gorgeous flapper inspired dress at 1:07
Will you be picking up any of these pieces to add to your autumn wardrobe?
