I like my feet to be comfortable mainly because I usually walk 5-8km each day but also because there is nothing worse than fashion shoes that pinch or rub. I’ve always had difficulty finding comfortable shoes that fit well and look stylish at the same time, it’s not a big ask but it does seem hard to find.
I’ve had my fair share of footwear disasters where the skin was literally ripped from my foot and I spent the next few weeks wearing bandages and ugly shoes. I believe that there is such a thing as a stylish and comfortable pair of shoes even though in the past I’ve substituted one for the other, I just needed to find them.
I found my dream shoes at Brantano which is an online store I’ve never used before, they sell a range of shoes to suit all budgets and have quite a few of the brands that I love like Clarks, Ipanema and Nike. My shoes are very casual and have been my summer staple since I received them, I only wish I’d found them in the spring so I could have worn them for longer if I’m honest.
The shoes have a strappy design and are made out of an incredibly soft black leather which adjusts across the foot which is great for my wide feet. At first glance they remind me of a Birkinstock however these shoes do not take weeks to break in like their doppleganger as the suede footbed is probably the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had the pleasure of putting my foot on. I’ve waxed lyrical about these shoes and on a few occasions have taken them off so that the person I was talking to could feel how comfy they were, I’d like to add this was friends and family not strangers.
Clarks really did well when they designed Perri Island* and the £50 price tag is well worth it in my opinion for such comfortable shoes.
What do you think of these Clarks Perri Island shoes?

Since taking on my allotment a couple of weeks ago I have spent a small fortune on beautiful seeds, planters and equipment to make my garden look the best that it possibly can. Choosing beautiful things for a garden is not an easy task as there is so much choice available whether you are buying for yourself or for a gift.
I know a lot of my friends and family will be buying me garden related gifts for Christmas and Birthdays for the foreseeable future and I myself will be buying token gifts for some of my new gardening friends. When you take on an allotment you also take on a whole new community of friends who are always eager to lend a helping hand or offer advice and it can be nice sometimes to say thank you for all of the help.
I’ve put together this little guide featuring some of my favourite items available at the time of writing which I hope will provide some inspiration when you need the perfect gift for a gardener not just at Christmas time but any time.
Backdoorshoes are a pretty awesome product and perfect for leaving at our back door as the name suggests or even leaving in your shed when you pop to the allotment. The shoes are very lightweight at only 200g a pair, waterproof and machine washable which is great when you’re working in muddy conditions. Ladies shoes are available in UK Sizes 3-8, Mens shoes available in UK Sizes 8-13.
I bought a similar Bee and Bug house for my Aunts birthday in October, I love the idea of this house from Greenhouse Sensation as it attracts solitary bees which will pollinate plants, ladybirds and lacewings which will prey on garden pests like aphids and red spider mite. As a gardener who grows flowers and vegetables and hopes to have chickens in the future I feel this would be a perfect gift for the allotment.
As the weather gets colder there is nothing better to improve a gardeners day than a nice hot flask of soup or coffee. This Orla Kiely flask is perfect for a nice mid morning treat after a hard morning spent digging the garden.
Hands are often the last thing that comes to mind when you think about a gardener but in reality hands are the most important tool a gardener has so it pays to look after the
This handy mug from Heathcote & Ivory contains a cleaning hand wash, hand cream
Enriched with Shea Butter, Vitamin E and Pathenol to nourish hands and help strengthen nails after a rewarding day spent digging and planting and nail brush to remove all traces of dirt from inside of the nails.
Finally we have this hardwearing garden apron that’s full of pockets and pouches, perfect for carrying your tools and trowels while gardening. Available from John Lewis it’s a garden must have in my opinion.
I hope this post has showed you that gardening is not just all about spades and forks, gardening gifts can be quirky, fun, useful and pretty so don’t be afraid to buy an awesome gift for the gardener in your life. They will love it!
Disclaimer: I wasn’t asked to talk about any of the brands or products in this post, I did it because I love them.

If I wasn’t currently pregnant and unable to wear beautiful high heels I would be emptying my bank account to buy a couple of pairs of ‘Keels’ by Karen K.
The Karen K brand was founded in 2010 and is the venture of Lebanese supermodel Karen El Khazen.
Each shoe is handmade from the finest materials and Karen is involved in every step of the process meaning she hasn’t just put her name into the brand, instead she has invested her personal time and love into each design.
The brand has a playful concept, heels are named ‘Keels’ boots are ‘Koots’ wedges are ‘K’Wedges’ and accessories are affectionately named ‘Klutches’ ‘Kandbags’ and ‘Kuffs’
I personally love the playfulness of the names but I’m not sure if I would have the confidence to ask for a pair or ‘Koots’ and a matching ‘Kandbag’ in a store.
Miss Karena (£1,050) is a beautiful design and would transform a simple black dress into an amazing outfit, the sad news is that there are only 22 available worldwide, this is a limited edition shoe so if you love it as much as I do you need to act fast
Lady Kayla (£735) is another favourite of mine, the materials used make the shoe look both elegant and playful, I always find that having a raised platform at the front make shoes easier to walk in.
Lady LouLou (£575) is probably my most favourite shoe from the whole Karen K range, I love the huge bow detail to the side. I often feel that if you have amazing shoes you can happily wear a plain outfit and light makeup as everyone will be admiring your feet rather than anything else you are wearing.
I’m going to France with my family on a skiing holiday for new year and Miss Amy (£550) would be the perfect boots to take for wandering around the shops and cafes, they will compliment any outfit and keep your ankles toasty and warm.
If you’re new to the Karen K brand you can find the whole range of items online here: Karen K
The beautiful shoes pictured above were a birthday present from David, my last leather pair of Converse lasted me ages and meant that I could wear them in the rain without my feet getting wet, the canvas converse are rubbish in the rain!
What I didn’t realise about these shoes was the fact they are the DEVIL in shoe form. Over the years I’ve had numerous pairs of converse, never had a problem with any pair until now!
I decided to wear these evil shoes on Saturday as I was going into town shopping, I figured they went well with the outfit I was wearing and stupidly thought they would be super comfortable.
After around 15 minutes of walking I started to feel a slight rubbing on the back of both heels, the sensation usually found with cheap ill-fitting shoes but never converse in my experience.
I could feel blisters starting to form and they were causing me a LOT of pain, I made the decision that I needed to buy something else to put on my feet.
I picked a pair of TOMS as my saviour shoes and saviour they were, instantly my poor feet were relieved, the rubbing stopped and my feet were cushioned. Wearing TOMS is like walking on air.
I personally never saw the fascination with these shoes before, I know there are a lot of look-a-likes available but I personally don’t see the point in buying flossys and the like when you can buy the real thing, For every pair of TOMS purchased, TOMS will give a pair to a child in need, One for One, the other brands don’t do this!
The moral of this story is that without me realising it TOMS saved my feet from blisters and my purchase also saved a child in needs feet from cuts and all sorts of none shoe wearing nastiness.
You can purchase my TOMS at Office for £34.99
If you would like to buy the Devil Converse Cloggs have them for £52.99
